Madeira is known for the Levada walks, which you find all over the island.
 A Levada is a water channel that transports water from the mountains to the plantations along the coastline. The first Levada was built in the 15^th century. As the Levada had to be cleaned from leaves and branches, there is a walk path next to, made from the foresters who cleaned them. Walk along these paths to discover the beautiful Madeira.
