Madeira is known for the Levada walks, which you find all over the island.
Levada is a water channel that transports water from the mountains to the plantations along the coastline. The first Levada was built in the 15th century. The water should not run to fast to splash out, so the channels are mostly on flat pace. As the Levada had to be cleaned from leaves and branches, there is a walk path next to, made from the foresters who cleaned themWalk along these paths to discover the beautiful Madeira.
