The Canary Islands are known for the delicious tapas dishes. In many restaurants you can find them as starters on the menu or there is a separate tapas menu. 

Some great examples are:

  • Papas arrugadas : These are small Canarian potatoes with red and green Mojo sauce
  • Lapas: This is a local shellfish. The dish is only available from May until December
  • Gamba’s al ajillo: These are garlic shrimps
  • Pimientos de padron: These are small green salty peppers

Lanzarote also has delicious fresh fish like ‘vieja’ and ‘sama’.
