Beautiful little traditional villages can be discovered throughout the island. To do something like this, a car rental is advised. Drive south and visit Ponta do Sol, Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar. After that you can drive  west exploring little villages. End you day at the natural swimming pools of Sao Vicente.

Specific for Canaico:
Miradouro Cristo Rei do Garajau: This statue of Christ, resembling the famous statue in Rio de Janeiro, offers a stunning view over the ocean and the surroundings.

Praia de Garajau: A small beach at the foot of the cliffs, accessible by cable car. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the sunset.

Caniço Promenade: A beautiful coastal promenade with hotels, restaurants, and the Madeira Dive Centre. Perfect for a leisurely walk.

Quinta do Palheiro Ferreiro: About 15 kilometers from Caniço, this beautiful historic garden is ideal for a peaceful stroll.

Garajau Nature Reserve: This protected marine area is a paradise for snorkelers and divers, with a great diversity of underwater life.
