  • Ponta de São Lourenço
One of the most famous hiking trails on the island; dramatic cliffs and stunning views over the Atlantic. The hike is approx. 8 km and offers some of the best panoramic views of Madeira's coastline.

  • Caniçal Fishing Village
This village has a coastal vibe, with traditional Madeiran architecture and an historic fishing port. You can go for a stroll and enjoy fresh seafood in one of the local restaurants.

  • Museu de Caniçal (Caniçal Museum)
The museum offers an insight into the villages’ history, especially its whaling industry.

  • Miradouro da Ponta do Rosto
A great spot for taking photos, due to its breathtaking views over the rugged cliffs and the sea.

  • Prainha de Caniçal
Looking for a quiet place? Prainha de Caniçal has a small, secluded beach. The surrounding cliffs protect you from the wind.

  • Ribeiro Frio
You have to drive a bit for this one; it's a spot worth visiting for nature lovers as it's filled with lush forests and hiking opportunities, including the famous Levada dos Balcões trail.
