Playa del Cura, located in the south of Gran Canaria, offers some lovely beaches for a relaxing day in the sun. While the area is more tranquil and less crowded compared to some of the more touristy spots on the island, it still has beautiful beaches worth visiting: 

1. Playa del Cura Beach 

  • Type: Sandy beach 

  • Features: Playa del Cura is a small and sheltered beach, ideal for those looking for a quieter, more relaxed environment. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and offers clear waters for swimming. It’s a perfect spot for families and couples who want to avoid the hustle and bustle. 

  • Facilities: Sunbeds, umbrellas, restaurants, and bars. 

2. Playa de Tauro 

  • Type: Sandy beach 

  • Features: Located just a short distance from Playa del Cura, Playa de Tauro is a quieter and more spacious beach. It’s known for its calm waters, making it great for swimming and enjoying the sun. The beach has a nice promenade and beautiful surroundings. 

  • Facilities: Sunbeds, beach bars, and some restaurants. 

3. Playa de Puerto Rico 

  • Type: Sandy beach 

  • Features: While a little more touristy, Puerto Rico Beach is nearby and offers a beautiful crescent-shaped sandy beach with clear, calm waters. It’s perfect for water sports and relaxing by the sea. The bay is protected, making it a safe option for families with children. 

  • Facilities: Sunbeds, bars, restaurants, and water sports rentals. 

4. Playa de Amadores 

  • Type: Sandy beach 

  • Features: A little further from Playa del Cura (about 10 minutes by car), Playa de Amadores is a stunning, man-made beach that’s famous for its fine golden sand and crystal-clear waters. The beach is larger than Playa del Cura and has a more tourist-friendly vibe with a variety of restaurants, shops, and bars. 

  • Facilities: Sunbeds, restaurants, cafes, shops, and water sports facilities. 

5. Playa de los Secos 

  • Type: Natural pebble beach 

  • Features: For a more natural beach experience, Playa de los Secos is a quieter, more secluded optionIt’s a small, rocky beach surrounded by cliffs. While it’s not ideal for swimming due to its rougher waters, it’s perfect for a peaceful day surrounded by nature. 

  • Facilities: Very few facilities, so it’s best for those looking for a more isolated experience. 

These beaches are perfect for different types of beach lovers, from those looking for family-friendly beaches with plenty of amenities to others seeking quiet, natural spots. Playa del Cura’s beaches are a mix of relaxation, water activities, and peaceful retreats!
