Biking routes

We don't recommend you to ride a bike anywhere else than the proximity of their accommodation. There are no bike paths on the roadways, and the locals aren't used to see many bicycles on the road.

1. Monte Gordo to Vila Real de Santo António:

2. Monte Gordo to Cacela Velha:

   2. Difficulty: Moderate
   3. Description: A scenic ride through rural Algarve, this route heads towards Cacela Velha, a beautiful village with breathtaking views of the coast. The route takes you through quiet roads, passing by fields and olive groves, with stunning coastal views at the end.
3. Cacela Velha to Praia da Manta Rota:
   1. Distance: Approx. 7 km one way
   2. Difficulty: Easy to moderate
   3. Description: This route is a great choice for a more relaxed ride. It takes you from Cacela Velha to Praia da Manta Rota, a beautiful beach area. The route offers scenic views of the countryside, and you can explore the quiet roads near the coast.
4. Ria Formosa Natural Park Cycling Loop:
   1. Distance: Approx. 20-25 km
   2. Difficulty: Moderate
   3. Description: The Ria Formosa Natural Park, located near Monte Gordo, is a wonderful place for cycling. This route takes you through salt marshes, lagoons, and coastal landscapes. It's an ideal choice for birdwatching and immersing yourself in nature.
5. Monte Gordo to Alcoutim:
   1. Distance: Approx. 45 km one way
   2. Difficulty: Challenging
   3. Description: For those looking for a more challenging ride, this route takes you inland to the town of Alcoutim. It features some elevation gains as you bike through the Algarve’s hilly terrain. Once you reach Alcoutim, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the Guadiana River and the surrounding area.
6. Monte Gordo to Castro Marim:
   1. Distance: Approx. 10-12 km one way
   2. Difficulty: Easy to moderate
   3. Description: A short but beautiful ride through the Algarve countryside. This route takes you to Castro Marim, a town known for its historical sites and salt pans. You'll pass through agricultural land and have views of the Guadiana River.

Before setting out, make sure to check the weather, as the Algarve can get very hot in summer, and bring enough water for your ride. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely ride along the coast or a more challenging adventure, these routes offer something for everyone!
