We don't recommend you to ride a bike anywhere else than the proximity of their accommodation. There are no bike paths on the roadways, and the locals aren't used to see many bicycles on the road.

 Gran Tarajal offers several beautiful bike routes that take you through the town and along the coast, allowing you to enjoy the natural scenery and panoramic views. Here is a recommended bike ride you can take:

Bike Route: Gran Tarajal to Playa de Sotavento (and back)

This bike route gives you the opportunity to experience the stunning nature of Fuerteventura, from the coastline to the dunes.

Route Description:

  • Starting Point: Begin in the center of Gran Tarajal, either at the harbor or the beach.
  • Distance: The route is approximately 12-14 kilometers round trip, depending on the exact path you choose.
  • Duration: The ride takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace and how often you stop to enjoy the view.

Highlights of the Route:

  1. Gran Tarajal to Playa de Sotavento: You’ll cycle along a quiet, well-maintained road and pass by scenic coastal landscapes. The route follows the coastline, offering beautiful views of the ocean and mountains.
  2. Natural Beauty: Along the way, you'll pass through various natural areas, including beaches, dunes, and small forests. It’s an ideal route for nature and birdwatching enthusiasts.
  3. Playa de Sotavento: This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Fuerteventura, known for its vast sand dunes and crystal-clear waters. It's a great place to take a break or enjoy a refreshing swim.

Practical Tips:

  • Bike Rental: If you don't have your own bike, you can rent one from local bike rental shops in Gran Tarajal.
  • Bring Water and Sunscreen: The sun on Fuerteventura can be very intense, so make sure to bring plenty of water and apply sunscreen.
  • Best Time to Bike: Spring and autumn are the best seasons to bike in Fuerteventura, as the temperatures are milder.

Alternative Route: Gran Tarajal to Tuineje

If you're looking for a longer bike ride, you can cycle from Gran Tarajal to Tuineje. This route is about 18 kilometers round trip and takes you through the island’s inland, passing rural areas and small villages. It’s a peaceful route, perfect for those who want to enjoy the countryside.

Both routes offer a great way to explore the island and enjoy the natural beauty of Fuerteventura by bike.
