Drinking water

We don’t recommend drinking tap water in Spain. While it is officially safe and meets EU health standards, the high levels of chlorine, lime, and minerals often affect its taste and can cause mild stomach issues for those not used to it.

In many regions—especially on islands like Ibiza—the tap water is heavily treated due to limited freshwater sources and reliance on desalination plants, which can further impact its quality and flavor.

As a result, most locals and tourists prefer to drink bottled water.

If you're staying at a Half Board, All-Inclusive, or Ultra All-Inclusive accommodation, the water provided for consumption is safe. Otherwise, we recommend buying bottled water from any supermarket or local shop.
