- Hindsæterkampen (in the Jotunheimen National Park area)
A marked snow-shoe walk route in the valley of the river Sjoa, accessible from the Hindsæter Hotel.
- Difficulty: moderate; for example one route “Hindsæter Snowshoe Loop” is approx. 6.3 km and takes approx. 3 h.
- Why it’s good: the winter wilderness here is quieter, you’ll be walking in forested and high-valley terrain, likely with fresh snow and good views.
- Tips: use snowshoes (or micro-spikes) if there’s deep snow; check avalanche danger if you go into steeper terrain; bring warm layers and daylight is limited in mid-winter.
- Fjellrunden – Trysilfjellet (in the Trysil area, Innlandet)
Highlighted in “Best snowshoeing trails in Innlandet” list: trail “Fjellrunden – Trysil” (approx. 8.3 mi, approx. 3 h 32 m) in winter conditions.
- Difficulty: typically 3–3.5 hours in winter walking/snowshoe conditions
- Why is it good: the length is moderate and it’s in somewhat prepared terrain (though still winter conditions). It gives a good winter walk without going fully alpine.
- Tips: even though it’s “just walking”, expect snow, slippery sections, cold and wind. Wear waterproof/windproof gear, and consider walking poles for stability.
