Carnaval (February or March)A vibrant celebration featuring colorful parades, costumes, music, and dancing in the streets. Alvor and Portimão host lively festivities during this time. 

Portimão Sardine Festival (August)One of the most famous festivals in the Algarve, this event celebrates the region’s love for grilled sardines. It includes live music, food stalls, and entertainment along the waterfront. 

Festival da Juventude (Youth Festival) (May)A festival aimed at younger audiences, featuring concerts, sports events, and interactive activities at various venues around the city. 

Portimão Boat Festival (June): This annual event celebrates maritime traditions with boat parades, water sports, and activities centered around the Arade River. 

Alameda Beer Fest (July): A craft beer festival held in the Alameda da Praça da República park, showcasing beers from Portugal and beyond, along with live music and food trucks. 

Racing Events at Algarve International Circuit (Throughout the Year): The racing calendar includes events such as the MotoGP, World Superbike Championship, and endurance races. The circuit hosts various high-profile motorsport events every year. 

Feira de São Martinho (November): A traditional fair celebrating St. Martin’s Day, featuring rides, games, food stalls, and chestnuts. It is one of the oldest fairs in the Algarve. 

Christmas Village and Holiday Festivities (December): Portimão transforms into a festive destination during December, with Christmas markets, ice skating rinks, light displays, and holiday-themed activities for families.
