By buying a typical souvenir, you will bring a piece of Madeira home with you.

Typical souvenirs of Madeira would be:

  • Rum 970: a benchmark on the island since it was first produced in the 1970s
  • Fennel sweets (rebuçados de funcho): these orange-coloured sweets are typical of Madeira and are based on the fennel plant. Fun fact: these sweets are also good for sweetening tea or for mixing with cane sugar brandy
  • Honey cake (bolo de mel): bolo de mel is obligatory on the Christmas tables of all Madeirans, however you can buy it all year around
  • Wine from Madeira (Malvasia, Boal, Verdelho and Sercial): an intense, sweet and fresh wine that is known internationally
