Beautiful little traditional villages can be discovered throughout the Island To do something like this, a car rental is advised.
Please find below the selection we made for you:
Teror
A peaceful mountain village famous for its colourful wooden balconies, narrow streets, and Sunday market. Visit the Basilica de la Virgen del Pino, then stop for local sweets or “chorizo de Teror”.
Firgas
Known as the “village of water”, Firgas is home to charming fountains and tiled mosaics representing all the Canary Islands. It’s calm, small, and full of character.
Vallesecoo
A green, rural area perfect for hiking and sampling local cheese and cider. Much quieter than the coastal resorts — you’ll mostly meet locals here.
Tejeda
One of the most picturesque villages in Spain, surrounded by mountains and almond trees. It’s ideal for walkers and nature lovers. Try the traditional almond pastries!
Artenaraa
The highest village on the island, known for its cave houses and stunning views over the Roque Nublo. Peaceful and authentic.
Agaete (and the Valley of Agaete)
A pretty fishing village on the northwest coast. Visit the port of Puerto de las Nieves, the natural saltwater pools, and the lush Agaete Valley, full of coffee and fruit plantations.
Santa Lucía de Tirajanaa
A quiet traditional town in the southeast, with palm trees, white houses, and beautiful hiking trails.
Tip from locals
If you want a scenic route, drive inland from Las Palmas toward San Mateo → Tejeda → Artenara, stopping along the way for viewpoints and local cafés — you’ll see almost no big tour groups there.
