Local food

Your destination offers many restaurants that provide international cuisine. However, it is possible to locate reputable restaurants that offer tasty local food.

  • Bullit de Peix: perhaps the signature dish of Ibiza. It's a fish stew made with fresh local fish, potatoes and a savory broth, often served first as fish + potatoes, then followed by rice cooked in the fish broth (arroz a banda).

  • Paella ibicenca / seafood paella: with seafood or fresh fish from the surrounding waters, using a good “fumet” (fish stock), resulting in a rich, flavourful paella.

  • Octopus / squid dishes: e.g. fried or grilled octopus (“frita de pulpo”), often served with potatoes, peppers or mashed potato depending on the preparation.

  • Sofrit Pagès: a rustic, traditional stew mixing meats (lamb, chicken, pork sausages like local cured sausage), potatoes and sometimes other vegetables/spices.

  • Coca de pimientos: a kind of local flatbread / pastry topped with roasted peppers, sometimes olives or other toppings, found in bakeries across the island.

  • Flaó: a traditional Ibizan cheesecake/tart made with goat or sheep cheese, eggs, sugar (or honey), and often flavored with mint and anise. It used to be associated mainly with Easter but now you can find it throughout the year.
