Your destination offers many restaurants that provide international cuisine. However, it is possible to locate reputable restaurants that offer tasty local food.

Typical food from the region is: 

  • Kaiserschmarrn: Shredded, fluffy pancake; Ellmau even has a Schmarrn‑Fest dedicated to it
  • Tiroler Gröstl: Fried potatoes, meat (e.g. bacon or beef), onions, often with a fried egg
  • Kaspressknödel: Cheese dumplings (“Knedl‑Tris” in Ellmauerhof has a Kaspress version)
  • Zillertaler / Käse‑Spätzle (Käsespätzle): Cheesy Alpine noodles
  • Wild ragout / game dishes for example, Hirschragout (deer) with spätzle on local menus
