    Thin dough pockets filled with potato, cheese, and herbs, served with browned butter. A true regional classic.
  2. Tiroler Gröstl
    A hearty dish of fried potatoes, bacon, and onion, often served with a fried egg. Perfect after a day in the mountains.

  3. Kaspressknödel
    Flat cheese and bread dumplings, fried in butter. Often served in soup or with a salad.

  4. Osttiroler Schlipfkrapfen
    The regional version of ravioli, filled with potato, herbs, and sometimes spinach.

  5. Tiroler Speck
    Home-smoked bacon of high quality – a must-try or a great souvenir to take home.

  6. Almkäse & Bergkäse
    Local cheeses from small mountain farms around Matrei.

  7. Game dishes
    Due to the location near Hohe Tauern National Park, there are many dishes featuring venison, roe deer, or chamois.
